Question about updating cues

I have a problem that I am sure is user error.  Let's say that I have a set of cues from 1-10 on my ion console.  If I go and change the value of channel 44 in cue 3, then it also changes that in every cue that follows cue 3.  The process that I use is update-cue 3-enter.  How can I save a cue without that change showing up in the subsequent cues?

  • Sorry only a quick reply.

I'm sure you're working in tracking mode. If you change to Cue Only in Setting this will fix the problem. You can see what mode your in in the top left corner of your channel display.

  • I would suggest not changing modes, but instead use the [Q Only/Track] button after [Update] whenever you only want to update the selected cue(s) and not anything subsequent.  I also suggest you read up on the numerous posts and/or knowledge base articles on this website about tracking.

  • Sorry, but I have to disagree, and advocate changing modes as Nick suggests.

Clearly joebtuner is expecting the console to behave in a Cue Only manner at the moment, and until he/she is absolutely comfortable with the concept of Tracking, understands the pros, cons.. and pitfalls, the safest option is to use something which makes sense to the user right now.

Not that I want to discourage anyone of course! As Xander suggests, it would be a great idea to go and read up on the topic. Depending on the application, it could make your life a whole lot simpler!
