ION recording stop effect

I have a cue (3.5) running an effect (5).  I want to insert a cue (3.7) with the same look, just no effect running.  I ran cue 3.5 stop effect enter record cue 3.7 enter and everything goes to home color.  How do I record the inserted cue with the effect stopped?  I tried record only and q only same result.

  • If you take a look at the actual effect. [Effect] [Effect] you should see a few options on how your effects behaves when entering and exiting the cue.

I'd suggest for your situation have a look at the exit of Effect 5 and I suggest it should possibly be Stop and Hold.

  • Or another way is:

If you want to have an effect running, then stop, then start again. You can use the {Rate] function.

You can apply a rate to your effect and if it was set to 0 it would stop, then in the cue after put it back to 100 and it will run as the settings dictate in the effects options.

So to do this apply your effect to the channels then [Displays] {Effect Status} [Effect] [X] [Rate} [0] [Enter]

*Trying this out on the offline editor you cant set the rate to 0, 1 is the lowest. Which possibly is slow enough for the job but technically not freezing the effect.*

  • Regarding the other way.  I have no need at this time to start any effect on another cue but I definately appreciate that info.

FYI I did try setting the effect rate at 0 then recording that inserted cue 3.7 and it also caused all the led's to go white when I set the record with enter.
