In short I am looking for a quick/easy way to convert a show file from using multiple wash groups (conventional lights with different gels) to one LED wash group.
I work for a road house theatre considering replacing rep cyc and back/top washes with LEDs. For simplicity lets say we replace our three-color cyc washes with Seladors. Most shows that come through my theatre have show files recorded for a three-color cyc wash, not one group of LEDs. What I need is a way to tell the console to correlate a color palette on the Seladors to a channel in the show file. I don’t see any way to easily make this kind of change in the current OS.
I’m thinking of three possible changes that can be made to the EOS OS: expanding {Replace With} to allow changes between channels rather than only levels; create a tool to facilitate this show file change; and/or what I think will be most useful, to re-imagine patch. I think an ideal solution would be the ability to patch one channel to control another channel at a certain color palette. For example, ch 101 was meant to be a Sky Cyc wash gelled with R26 and is re-patched from dimmers to ch 200, CP 101 (a Selador wash with a color palette for R26). This could be conceivably used for more than LEDs like using a moving light to replace a special as a last minute fix.
