Saved to ION C: drive

Here is an odd one.  While building a show on the ION I saved regularly.  However, I did not notice that it was saving to a subdirectory in the C: drive.  I needed to swap to an older show file from my USB key, and when I went to get the newer file back it did not appear in the Archive, which is in the D: drive.  Of course, my USB saves that afternoon were also pooched (don't ask).

I would love to get the afternoon's work back without calling the choreographer back in.  Is there any way for me to retrieve the show file from the C: drive?

Thanks.

  • Hi Paul,

Saving to the C: partition of the drive should not be possible from within the Ion software, this partition is where the OS and software lives, but is not accessible to the user. What makes you think that you were saving to the C: drive? Where did you get this indication?

If this really is the case I suggest you give tech support a call so that we can investigate how this happened and talk you through how to access the files if they are indeed on the C: drive.

  • Hi Graham,

After I could not find the file, I looked at the "Save" item in the File menu, and it showed that the automatic save was going into the C:\Windsock folder (Windsock is the name of the show).  I know that the C: drive is not supposed to be accessible to users directly, so I was quite surpised that this had happened.

I only discovered this on Friday night, otherwise I would have called tech support immediately.  Thanks for your quick reply, and I'll give tech support a call - I'm glad to hear the file can probably be extracted.

    Thanks,

    Paul
