Automatic Startup and Shutdown on the Ion

Hi all,

I'll be using an Ion and an Element for a gallery installation in a few weeks time. I'm trying to workout how I can set the consoles to power up and power down automatically at a certain time each day. I don't need to trigger any cues once the console is on as I'll be using MIDI to do that.  I can't see anything obvious in the manuals or in the console itself.

Is this possible to do? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • Automatic power-down can be done with a Macro.

    • Start recording the macro
    • Do a power-off-console, the console will shut down.
    • Now power-up the console
    • The Macro you just made will be there.

    - You might also want to edit that macro to cut out any extra bits that aren't needed.

This Macro can then be fired from a cue via MIDI Show Control, or from a Real-Time Clock Event.

Automatic power-on will require external equipment, as the console cannot do anything when it is not running.

Ion and Element both support Wake-On-LAN, so that would work if you have an always-on piece of equipment that can send the Wake-On-LAN.
(This is how we do "power on whole system" for multi-console systems.)
