Busking on the EOS

I've just had my first good-sized live show experience on this board.  A few questions arose in the process:

We've become accustomed to having way plenty of Sub handles.  I'm still trying to get my head around the fluid manipulation of the Eos' multiple Fader pages.  At first, I thought my solution would be using Snapshots of the several pages I would use.  That turned out to be not a good idea as it also records the 'state' of the pages.  Next I tried Macros as a way to get to specific pages with one finger.  Unfortunately, I was unable to get it to catch my keystrokes -[Fader Page] and my number.  Can anyone help with creating that Macro or another idea to put Fader Pages on some DirectSelect buttons?

During the show, I ended up using a combination of Direct Select Groups and Sub handles.  Once I overide a Sub level with a Group, Is there a way to return the control to the Sub?

Effects.  I've been building a lot of Step Effects lately.  On a recent show, it took about an hour of high stress head pounding then a call to tech support to become aware of the glitch about the Entry and Exit Fade times (the designer was adamant about having an effect fade out gracefully, but had also wanted the Entry to be immediate.)  I don't see that mentioned here on the forum, but I assume that as Tech Support knows about it, someone is working on it. 1.3 maybe?

In step effects, where do I get to see all the channels that are contained in a step?  It seems that I can see more of the channels if I look at the RPU's screen instead of the Facepanel's, but it is still not all of them at once.  How can I add and subtract channels from those lists?

I think that it is extremely cool that I can adjust step timing while the effect is running, but here is my problem-  I have a step or more highlighted in any of the time or level columns (let's say Dwell.)  I change the dwell time to 1 second and observe the Effect.  At this point, with the column still highlighted, I feel like I should be able to change that time repeatedly until I get it just right.  However, when I type another digit it perceives me as calling up an entirely different Effect, thus kicking me out of the screen.  The workaround I discovered was when I wanted to change the time again, I would arrow left or right off the column then back again.  It's very frustrating if I forget to do that though.  Is this deliberate?

I am also accustomed to having effects run on Subs.  Is there an equivalent here?  Is it multiple Cue stacks?  Is there a way to designate whether an effect is LTP or HTP?

Thanks All,

Brent

No, there is no way that I know of in 1.2 or 1.3 to record a macro that will change your fader page to a specific page. This should be possible, but I just tried it and you're right, it doesn't do anything. We'll fix it, but it won't be in 1.3.

To fade from your manual levels to your sub levels, Sneak the channels to make them go back to the sub, using [Sneak Enter] or [Group 1 Sneak Enter]. Unfortunately, in 1.2 though, they will sneak to 0, then jump to the sub’s level. This is fixed in 1.3. If you use [Sneak Time 0 Enter], it wouldn't fade to 0 first, but it will snap to the subs level rather than fade to it.

I don't believe the immediate exit time thing is fixed in 1.3, but if not, it will be in the next release. I think the workaround is to use an exit time of .01 instead of 0.

I'm afraid there is no way to see all channels in an effect step if they don’t fit on one line. This is a known issue, but it hasn't been addressed yet.

To add or remove channels from a step, select the step’s channel field and press [- 5 Enter] or [+ 5 Enter] to add or remove channel 5 from the step. If you press [- 5] or [+ 5] from an empty command line in, it will add or remove those channels from all steps.

It’s a defect that once you edit the value in a cell, the next number you type does not also edit that cell. We should be fixing this in the next release.

We plan on allowing effects on subs, and would like to get this into the next release. Currently there is no way to have an HTP effect. You can have them in separate cue lists, and therefore seperate playbacks if you want them available at any time.

In these responses, "next release" means after 1.3, because 1.3 is releasing extremely soon.

Thanks for letting us know about these so they can get fixed.
