I've found that my Ion is not always successfully booting. It gets hung up on the big ION(tm) screen. The fader wing LCDs say "Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc." and the LCD on the main console says "Ion TM" under the 2nd and 3rd encoders. This is all before the Welcome screen (where you choose Primary, back-up, Set-up, etc).
If I press the "power on" button the unit shuts down and (so far) boots up normally on a second press.
What can I do to help you solve this? I can send a log if you like after the next successful boot up.
