Improvements for Chauvet MK2 Spot profile

Hi!

I've been using the Chauvet Maverick MK2 Spot for a week, and there are a few improvements that could be made to the fixture profile in Library v2.5.1.9.0.6.

I've been using the 24-CH profile.  I've not had an opportunity to toy with the other personalities.

1.) The profile contains unnecessary Diffusion "modes." This fixture has a simple single channel 0-255/0%-100% for diffusion.

2.) The Zoom channel on this fixture appears to be reversed from what is considered normal.  0 is Wide 37º.  255 is Narrow 13º.  The field angle user values should be added to the range as well.  I was able to remedy this in Profile Editor, but it took some trial and error to convince the board that the DMX range is reversed.

3.) Gobo rotation is difficult to operate. Gobo channels should operate same as the Prism channel, correct?  Modes for Index, Rot+, Rot-, and Stop.  0-100% index/speed channel. Right now, in Rot+ mode, 100% Speed is slowest speed. In Rot- mode, 100% Speed is fastest speed. There is no mode for Rotation Stop.

4.) The actual stock gobos are a little bit different from the Magic Sheet images in the [Gobos] folder on the console.

5.) The fixture's control channel is listed as "Position blink" under the Focus category.  I haven't messed with the options in that channel yet.  But I'm not sure if these options belong under "Focus" category, or if they should be considered "Lamp Controls".

Does anyone else on the forum have any other ideas?

  • I'd like go into further detail on how that Gobo rotation mode should work:

Throw out Rot-, Rot+, and Stop.

There should only be one range for Gobo Rotation:

    DMX 64 = User -100%

    DMX 231 = User 100%

With this range, User 0 lands on DMX 147, which stops rotation.

The same goes for Prism rotation:

    DMX 128 = User -100%

    DMX 255 = User 100%

User 0 lands on DMX 192, which stops rotation.

This is how rotating gobos work in the profile for the VL3000, and it's very easy to control.

  • There have been some changes to this fixture since the library version you are using.  I would recommend you update to v2.7.4 and patch a fixture anew (or use your show and choose {Update Lib} in Patch.  If we still have more to fix, please let us know.

    Thanks!
