Why are ETC fixture profiles / modes labeled so differenly from the manufacture' description which makes them complicated to match?

Why are ETC fixture profiles / modes labeled so differenly from the manufacture' description? For example: why doesn't ETC just label the Astera profiles as P89 or P94? Instead we have to search to try to find a match through the specific information for each fixture mode. I find the same difficulty with many of the ARRI lights. People I know who work with GrandMa and Hog don't seem to have this issue.
