Allow changing encoder category while encoder is still moving

when working quickly with encoders, i'm running into this behavior that blocks my workflow.

i'm turning an encoder and because i know that the next parameter i want to control is on the same encoder on the next page, i leave my finger on the encoder and press the encoder category button. i want to continue with the encoder right away. but often the category hasn't changed and i'm not controlling the second parameter but rather still the first one.

this mostly happens with framing shutters (because there i often change encoder category pages) but have seen it with other parameters as well.

  • The other half of this is the "hold down encoder category button to hold white point" feature, (which is the reason we can't change pages while moving an encoder now), doesn't seem like the right way to implement that. Holding an encoder category button to hold the white point is very hidden from the user and not discoverable. I would recommend that this move to a button on the encoder screen to make room for Ueli's request.
