Currently (in Eos 3.2.5) in patch, using [Copy To] with the {Plus Show} modifier copies all data from the source - including referenced data that was not discrete, making a data discrete in palettes that are otherwise exclusively by-type. I believe that an option should exist to ~not~ copy data if the fixture is not being copied from the by type source channel.
The goal is to eliminate having to cleanup palettes on a show where changes are occurring often (or prevent having inconsistent data across fixtures that are presumed to be by-type).
