MVR import from Vectorworks is included in Eos v3.2.0.

GDTF + MVR

Just watched Vectorworks's webinar on GDTF & MVR and I hope that this is something that ETC is looking into and will implement in future versions of 3.0 and Augment3d.

  • I'm only informed on what it can do from the yesterday's webinar, so I wouldn't say I know all the features these suites offer. That being said the ability to build a plot in Vectorworks, take that file into Eos/Augment3d patch and focus everything with shutter cuts and beam focus and potentially send that same file out to a visualizer like Vision or Capture would be amazing.

  • Thanks for the response. We are doing most of that in our import of Vectorworks into Augment3d currently. If you use the Vectorworks plug-in (available on these forums), we bring in much of that information - we also bring in Vectorworks focus points. We don't do a lot of exporting right now, but are looking at options for future versions. I'll get your feedback noted and we'll keep an eye on how Augment3d and GDTF/MVR move forward. Thanks!

  • I know it has been a year since this was posted, but I would like to add that being able to go between WYSIWYG and EOS would be fantastic. I am a WYSIWYG and EOS user that works with a lot of MA3 and Vectorworks users.. it would be super sweet to be able to collaborate easier.

    Thanks!

  • We are trying to add Unreal Engine to our workflow and would love to have MVR + GDTF with all the ETC Fixtures so that once the rig is designed in Vectorworks we can just export once to Augment3d/Eos for programing and once to Unreal for more photo realistic pre-vis for directors and such. Without GDTF files for the ETC Fixtures it is a big pain to have to basically "build" each fixture type from data sheets. MVR would be nice to have a uniform exchange of information between all 3 (Vectorworks/Eos/Unreal).

  • Howdy! Good news on that front - with Vectorworks 2023 SP2 and Eos v3.2, you will be able to export from Vectorworks via MVR, and all scenic and fixture data will come over (with the exception of shutters, which we are working with VW to improve in future releases). We are going to open beta for Eos v3.2 next week, so look for that on these forums if you want to play around early. I saw your cross-post for GDTF fixture profiles on our fixture page - someone from that team will let you know what their thinking is on providing GDTF profiles.

With MVR import now available, we will not be creating a Vectorworks 2023 plug-in. Users of VW 2019-2022 should still use the available plug-in, and users of VW 2023 and beyond should use MVR export for scenic and fixture transfer. There will be more information in v3.2 documentation when we are ready for release, expected in Q1 next year.
