Keep Reference Data when using [Palette] + [Palette]

Currently when I do [1] [Thru] [10] [1] [Color Palette] [101] [+] [130] it fans the colors across the channels making a gradient, and it makes the color data for all the channels absolute.

I think Channel 1 should keep its reference of Color Palette 101 and Channel 10 should keep its reference of Color Palette 130. It makes sense that Channel 2 Thru 9 have to be changed to absolute data, as their data no longer matches either of the color palettes, but the data in Channel 1 matches the data in Color Palette 101, so it should keep its reference to that color palette.

As it is now, it is very difficult to read or re-engineer which color palettes are being used.

I think it should work the same for all palettes and presets, but color palettes are the most common use case for gradiants

  • That would be nice but I believe would be a much more challenging feature to implement. It isn't actually reference data since that color for Ch 2 doesn't exist somewhere else in the console to reference, so they would have to create a new space to store that. The goal and point of my request is that it should be easy to implement, as it's essentially just asking "don't make absolute if the values still match the reference", asking them to not unnecessarily change data that already exists.

  • I appreciate the reply, but the Command History is not a helpful suggestion. If it is such a recent change that it appears in my Command History, then I would just remember what Color Palettes were used. When I say read/re-engineer I'm talking about the next day in tech, or the next week, or even over a year later when remounting a show.

  • I would also suggest that channels two through nine could also be referenced data. Like Ch 2 is cp101 but 1/10 to cp 130.

  • You are right, it's hard to grasp why the first and the last channel are going absolute and indicating a reference change, when in fact they have the unchanged values of the first and last palette.
    But:
When it comes to re-eingineer/ read/ finding out which CPs/Presets/DS ones are being used at the moment,
the quickest way for me to find out is via the Command History after pressing [Undo].
