LINKing Cue timing able to override LINKed Cue timing

I just designed and ran my first show (Beauty and the Beast) using the ION XE 20 console.  Being new to the ION XE there may be a way to accomplish the following but I did not find it.

As with many musicals (and other shows) the same lighting is often used in more than one scene.  For instance, in B&B we are in the Village a couple of times and in the Castle several times and in the forest two times.  The same lighting is very often required BUT the fade up / fade down may well change depending on the action of the scene.  It would be very helpful if a "master" cue could be recorded and then a show cue could LINK to the master cue but the show cue would control the timing, not the master. The timing in the master would be the default and be used UNLESS the LINKing cue specified an override.

  • You could use the {Link} option to make it happen.
And the fact that you like to have different Fadetimes could be accomplished by using several cues for the entry in your new scene. (The other way, i dislike, could be with macros, changing the cue-timing.)
Linking Back could be something that needs more actions. Maybe here you can't avoide some macro actions (but i would set them in the entry cue).
Because [Cue] {Link} [1] [/] [Enter] will post automaticaly the last Cue from List 1, the one you came from, not the next one in List 1...

    Like:
    - Main Cue-list (Cue List 1)
->Link into the Woods (Cue List 2)
    ->Link back to Main Cue-list
->Link into the Castle (Cue List 3)

    ----

    The Woods (Cue List 2):
-Entry Cue 1 -> links to Cue11 (continue of woods)
-Entry Cue 2 -> links to Cue11 (continue of woods)
-Entry Cue 3 -> links to Cue11 (continue of woods)
    ...

    -----------
It is only a matter of how you organise yourself. Options are already in the Desk. ; )

The {Link} Option is a Softkey that you can select when, at least, the Key [Cue] is pressed once. Then the Desk will offer you some Softkeys for the current Cue.
If you like to set the options for a different Cue than the current one, write [Cue] 666 or [Cue] 2/666 (change the No. to your liking) and hit the Softkey of your desire.
