I would like to request a Lock feature for Groups, similar to the existing lock options in Color Palettes, Beam Palettes, Focus Palettes, etc.
Why this is needed / actual use-case
In real programming situations, especially when updating cues quickly during rehearsals, it is possible to accidentally modify a Group when the intention was to update a cue.
This mistake can happen because Groups currently have no Lock protection, so unintended edits overwrite the group data immediately.
For example:
-
I intend to update a cue,
-
but I accidentally record or update to a selected Group number,
-
resulting in the Group being overwritten and all cues depending on that Group being affected.
This is different from Palettes, which already have a Lock feature to prevent exactly this kind of error.
Why this feature matters
-
Groups are foundational to many workflows and are used in hundreds of cues.
-
An accidental overwrite can impact the entire show file.
-
The current behavior creates unnecessary risk during fast-paced show programming.
Requested Feature
Please add a Lock / Protect option for Groups, functioning the same way as Palette Lock:
-
Prevent accidental Record or Update
-
Require an explicit “Force Update” to overwrite a locked Group
-
Visual indicator (like Palettes) showing the Group is locked

↑Beam pallet has lock function

↑Group does NOT have lock function
This would greatly reduce show-critical mistakes and align Groups with the safety features already available for other data types.
Thank you for considering this improvement!
