Magic Sheet Increment Selected

In Magic Sheets, it would be great to be able to grab a group of items and increment their numbering by a specified number. (Similar to the way Lightwright will let us put "+10" in the channel column to add ten to a selected set of rows.

This would be useful when I have a bunch of specifically numbered channels that I need to duplicate in the same arrangement.

  • I think that the autodetection of Cells and a related autoincrement would be a big improve.

But in my oppinion the rest of the copy/paste function works quite well.

  • I think it does work, yeah.

I think it could be improved with a feature like an increment option like the one I describe, which is why it’s here in the Feature Requests section.

  • The process of copying large Channel set mixed with Multicells isn't easy.

But note, that the Edit Tool (the Arrow) allways can be used to define which Channel you are starting next with.
So it is kind of the other way around as you like it.
    1. Copy
    2. Select your new start Channel and increment
    3. Paste

(Please note, 1. & 2. can be changed in order any time!)

Multichannel selections need to be done sepparat. That could be improved.

But it is a working system so far. Don't you think?

  • So let's say I have this magic sheet (why? Maybe it's an odd rep shins layout and a cyc unit in 12 cell mode):

And I wanted to duplicate all of that to channels 21 through 31.12.

I could click on the Quick Layout tool, set my start channel to 21, then click each of the places I want a Channel tile in order (and then adjust the size of each of them if they're not standard from the object library). Then I could make a rectangle for channel 31, then make the 31.1, set the start channel to 31.2 and change the increment to 0.1, and copy paste it in eleven more times, or paste them all in and use the assignment tool to set all of them. The channel layout isn't straightforward, so I'd have to replicate that each time (instead of using the Array tool). If I had a Group 1, Group 6, and Group 11, I'd do the same with those.

What I'm suggesting would be to select all of these, copy, enter "+20" somewhere, and paste. They'd all have the channels I'm looking for.

If I was duplicating the full magic sheet of a full plot, and moving it to the 2000 channel range, this would save significantly more time.

  • Use the arrow with the plus symbol on it, next to assignment tool ; )
