Minimum Fade Time for channels/addresses

As a programmer who often ends up in film land, I'm often dealing with 12k and 20k lamps, which prefer to be faded up slowly; snapping them to full causes big inrush current and has been known to crack lenses.

I think it would be very useful to be able to set a minimum fade time for a channel or address, so that the console can't snap these values even if stored in a 0-second cue. Often many operators will use one console in a short span of time, this would help save lamps and lenses and reduce the risk of blowing breakers.

  • I've got an idea. You know how some moving lights had address for parameter speed, where you could use DMX to set the speed it could move at?

What if we had Virtual Intensity Speed, Virtual Position Speed, Virtual Color Speed, etc. etc. that we could add as an accessory to the channel.

It wouldn't use a DMX channel, but it would change how fast the DMX values can move for the types.

It sort of like having a Manual Fader you could apply on a per channel basis.
