Due to the number of LDs and Programmers I know who prefer to patch all cells as individual channels rather than use Multi-Cell Fixtures, even though it often doubles the total number of channels in a show (or more), I think it's fair to say that the current implementation of Multi-Cell Fixtures is an imperfect one.
I feel like I can see the logic behind almost all of the decisions for the current implementation of Multi-Cell Fixtures, it's making the most of a tough problem being handed to Eos by fixture manufacturers. New ideas I can come up with for a better implementation of Multi-Cell strip lights, don't always make sense in the context of a Multi-Cell moving head, so I don't see an obvious path forward.
One small change I would like to see though is the ability to make the Master Cell have no parameters, i.e. remove the Virtual Intensity parameter so that typing channel 91 AT Full changes the cells the same way it does for Color. For moving head Multi-Cell fixtures this makes a ton of sense. However on striplights such as Color Forces, it's only ever in the way. I can see why some people in some scenarios could want it to easily preserve the proportion of intensities between different cells while changing the over all intensity. But I would patch my striplights as multi-cell a lot more often if I could just delete the Master Cell Virtual Intensity from my Fixture Profiles
Thanks,
Steven
