OUTPUT COLORIMETRY

Hi everyone,

There’s something I’ve suggested before (with no luck so far – ETC France doesn’t really get the point…).

I’d love to have a new window dedicated to output colorimetry. Once my show is programmed, I want to be able to create output color profiles.

Basically, I need to be able to tweak my color triangle (ideally with more than just 3 anchor points) so that everything runs a bit more blue, or a bit more red… just for a video shoot, or just for a specific production. Same thing with virtual parameters: for one performance I might need everything slightly more saturated, or warmer, etc.

You see what I mean?

Curious to hear your thoughts :))))

  • Hello Mathilda,

Yes you’re right and I love this tool, it is super helpful, I use it on a daily basis.

    However,

If tonight I’m asked to modify the whole colorimetry of ShowA only for a recording that should be less blue , or just to take a look, try some colour grading, then I’d use the Tint tool right away =

    - duplicate showfile or cuelist / name it « just for this video recording »

    - select all colorpalettes / modify proportionately with Tint tool

    - check this cue, this other cue, …

    - Re-select everything and modify again OR Okay save show or update

Not easy to compare this colour render, many colorpalettes to modify, … …

But that would be an idea to give us the ability to modify the output CieXYZ, and create profiles of Colorimetry renders, don’t you think ? This « less blue output CieXYZ » or « 18%warmer Output CieXYZ » profiles could then be re-used on different shows and save time.

Would also help collaborate with VideoManagers more efficiently :D Lots of use cases actually. This would be the equivalent of colour grading.

    What do you think ??

  • You know about the Tint Tool in the Colorpicker?
Is this not to your liking?
