Pixel map variable response time

I would like pixel maps to have a variable response time.

Problem: the pixels now respond directly to the content, resulting in pixels snapping on and off giving an extremely busy image, especially with lower resolution pixel maps and more graphical content.

Solution: make it possible to give a minimum fade up time and a minimum fade down time for each pixel. Usually you would like a fast up and a slow down, but depending on the content and taste this may be different.

It might also help to be able to put a certain amount of gaussian blur over the content to help smooth the hard edges and to provide a bit anti-aliasing.

  • I had the same idea a while ago -- one option that I was presented with is that you can achieve similar results from the "blend" parameter at the master layer for a pixel map. It works decent, but I still often just pre-blur my content in advance -- as for large rigs gaussian is actually quite a heavy filter effect.
