[Select] Hard Key Allow Selection for Editing/Changing - Specifically Direct Selects

I've started using Custom Direct Selects a lot more, and I have found that when I want to change the layout, or move or delete something from the custom direct select, I have to go back into the custom direct select editor. This really slows down workflows especially when I am doing corporate gigs and just throwing things together quickly.

It would be really great if the Select button on the face panel that is next to the arrow keys and escape key would allow you to be able to select things in live to then change and or edit them. For example, I already have a snapshot on my custom direct select window. Now I want to move it from one space to another. I could hit Select, tap the direct select snapshot and then hit copy to or move to and tap where I want it to go. This behaviour could be really helpful for just moving/editing/deleting things around when it come to layouts of faders and direct selects.

This behaviour could even be carried over into any of the console layout components, such as tabs and moving/copying them to other screens/workspaces.

To be honest I'm not sure if that key already has a purpose, as I have never used it before and I have spent some time on the console trying to find ways to activate it. It seems it doesn't have a lot of functionality currently, and I feel this could be a good use for it.

  • if you use shift you can get CDS target (And genrally anything off a DS) onto your command line without executing it in the case of snapshots. You can then place those targets back down and remove the old one.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Select is mainly intended to work when navigating the CIA with page keys, where you generally use enter you can use select.
