Solo/hilight button

There are a couple functions that may do your trick.
Highlight, RemDim.

Sometimes we need to solo a channel without highlighting it. That's why the separate solo function is a good idea.

When would that be? while programming or during busking?

Mostly while programming.

have you tryed remdim?

Let me give you an example : I'm working with a DP on a TV show with hundreds of moving lights. He needs to edit a Solaframe that's a front light. I "solo" it to be more precise. Maybe I pan/tilt a bit, and close a shutter. Then the DP needs to measure the intensity and colorimetry (I can't be in Highlight mode). Finally, I release the solo to return to normal, and update the cue. If I use "remdim", I have to "sneak" all the channels that I haven't edited. Remdim could work if all the parameters were recorded in palettes, so I could update the palette instead of the cue. Then "sneak" everything. But a "solo" button would be more relevant and faster.

RemDim can be some times not to easy, but as long as you do not clear your commandline, you can simply hit [RemDim] again and every thing is reverted to before.

Mathilda, yes you are right. Not clear that the command line during remdim works : that's what I'm looking for with FCB parameters. But you can't change the intensity, because it removes the remdim command.

Ueliriegg: as Mathilda said the Highlight remdim changes the intensity of the selected channel. And sometimes I need to highlight a channel without remdim. That's why it would be nice to have 2 separate functions.

I have a highlight button and a highlight remdim button, and a macro that can swap the highlight preset if needed.
You could also always pull down the grandmaster fader and capture the channel you want to work on.
