When holding "Fader Page" "Load Fader X" should jump to the according fader page.

The Problem:

On the older Ion XE, Gio and EOS desks, the plastic buttons for paging faders (changing encoder categories etc...) are not that nice to use when having to jump between multiple fader pages in a pinch. It quickly happens that you accidentally skip a page when going from page 8 to page 1, for example. This issue has been addressed on Apex desks with the addition of mechanical keys for paging.

Proposed solution for older consoles:

Holding down "Fader Page" and then pressing "Load Fader 8" would, for example, jump straight to faderpage 8. This would provide a nice way to quickly jump fader pages in hectic scenarios and improve the handling of many faders while hopefully having minimal conflict with existing synthax.

  • No, i was not aware of this feature. Thanks for letting me know.

Even with this in mind, i still think the functionality would be nice in improving the handling when working with multiple fader pages in a fast-paced live performance (which was my main point in the post)

When I'm running shows with a Master Cuelist and faders, I have my left hand on the faders and my right index on GO. With your current implementation, if I wanted to jump to page 6, to quickly adjust a buried sub, I would have to hold faderpage with my left hand (taking them off the faderbank) and move my right hand to 6. Then do the whole thing again to jump back to where I left off. With my proposed implementation, you could leave your hands in place on the right side of the desk, hold down faderpage with your right index (or right pinkey if your index is glued to GO), press "Load Fader 6", quicky adjust your fader and press "Load Fader 1" to jump back to your main page. This just makes sense for me ergonomically.

I guess this feature request boils down to a handling/ergonomics improvement when jumping faderpages rapidly, rather than a feature request for syntax to jump faderpages (which i was not aware existed when writing this request).

  • Are you aware that you can hold the FaderPage button and type a page number with the regular facepanel number buttons?
