Console Lock/Password

Hi everyone. I have read on the forum about the desire for a console locked with a password and the complications that come with actually setting it up to have one.

I am creating this thread to put my vote for a console lock to be created. We recently had a situation that caused a lot of issues. It could have been avoided just by locking the console so only a select few can actually turn it on and operate it.

I don't expect to change anything. I just wanted to add my name to the list of people requesting it.

Thanks!

Jason

  • I have also been waiting for this. When it was discussed a while back it was a concern that either users forget their pw or some venues just don't want the option available for their own reasons and having it as an option would allow some users to activate it when it is not wanted.

So set it up that only an administrator can activate it or remove it. I would like to see it not just with a pw but also to be able to set rules as to which operators have what control; ie: who can record or who can save, etc. just like many businesses and corporations do with their employee computers and networking.

and an IT department to manage it :)

I think you could very easily create yourself a bigger issue than you are trying to solve, with loosing the admin password, getting yourself locked out etc, given staff movements in the industry etc.

Almost everything is saved in the show files, so just opening the saved show should fix the issue that someone created.  And if you've done a lot of work you take the show file home with you on a USB.
