Pallete Spreadsheet View

I was in the spreadsheet view and saw a column for Direct. Can that make the pallete a direct selection with the fixtures recorded inside it? Or what does it do? It defaults to No, but what changes when its set to Yes?

But what does it do? Whats the difference between a regular pallete and a direct pallete?
