Color Temperature in the Color system

Hi there evryone,

Last post with this topic-name went wrong because of browser issue's an can be removed.

Back in the days with the version 3 software CTO channels would have values like 2700K to 6500K. Nowadays i see more and more fixtures where the CTO or CTB flags have values from 0-100%

Is there a reason for this? The option on a CTO/CTB channel still can be configured as Function: CTO Feature: Temperature

Another question is if the Color Temperature ever gonna be a function in the new Coloring system or does it stay separated from the Cooler/Warmer option in the Tinting Tool?

Thanks. Greetz Sander

  • In version 4 the CTO, CTB and Minus Green are separate from the coloring system and i think they should be.
If you make a pretty color that looks nice to the naked eye but no to the camera you can just add in some CTO or CTB without changing the color.

My question was more about Colortemperature values on the encoder.
Now the CTO channel is set to
    DMX: 0 > 65535
    Function: CTO
    Feature: Variable
    Value: 0-100%

For example the Ayrton Veloce is calibrated om 6500K white LED source. It has a CTO wheel which goes to 2700K.
    Why isn't it:
    DMX: 0 > 65535
    Function: CTO
    Feature: Temperature
    Value: 6500K - 2700K

If i set this in the Fixture builder it sets the CTO wheel default at 5600K which is in line with the new coloring system. I was was wondering why this changed in the conversion from Fixture Library version 3 to version 4.
