Color mixing with faders

I'm having trouble with Hog's color engine.

Hog doesn't seem to allow me to mix colors or control separate color parameters with different faders.

The color engine treats all color parameters as a single attribute, so only one fader can control the fixture's color at a time. As soon as another fader takes control, the previous color is released.

My goal is to use a single fixture with multiple color playbacks. For example:

  • Fader 1 plays back Palette Color 1 for fixture x1.
  • Fader 2 plays back Palette Color 2 for fixture x1.
  • I want to blend the two colors together by moving the faders.

However, this doesn't work. Even when I use a crossfade between two cues with different colors, the fixture first fades back to its default color (white) before fading to the new color. There is no smooth color blending.

I also tried programming the individual RGB channels on three separate faders, but Hog still won't mix them. Whichever fader is active takes complete control, and the other faders are released.

The same happens with CMY flag fixtures. Even if I try to control only a single CMY flag on one fader, Hog still locks the other two CMY flags (and all other color parameters) to that playback.

Is this expected behavior, or is there a way to allow multiple playbacks to contribute to the fixture's color output so colors can be mixed?
