Expression Boot ROM

My Expression 3 is occasionally giving me this information on powerup:

Expression 3 / 400 Boot ROM ver.3.0

DRVSPACE

select a program to run using + or -

No Help Available

Soft Keys are as follows

S1 RUN PROGRAM

S2 through S6 Empty

S7 RECORD TO FLASH

S8 RUN FROM FLASH

Why does this happen? After several reboot attempts, the console would power normally. Now, this anomaly occurs if the show file disk is left inserted into the drive on powerup. When the disk is removed, the console boots normally. This never was a problem before.

What do we do next?

Is your show disk also the Console software disk - or more likely the Nodes software update disk? This is the startup screen you get when you have one of those updater disks in the drive...

No. The show disks were blanks. They only have show file data.

When the console boots it looks for any files with a *.bin extension since that's what's used for diagnostic programs. It sounds like one of your disks has a file called drvspace.bin on it. That's actually a DOS file not at all related to ETC consoles. If the problem occurs when no disk is in the drive, then it might be a good idea to reload the console software.
