ETC - Express 48/96 - Cross faders and master slider stuck at 92%

I'm working with an older 48/96 board and it has seen better times. I've so far figured out that the bottom row of sliders seem to not work for the first 10% or so and if slid all the way to the top get stuck at 92%. I got around this with the grand master slider by just disabling the grand master all together. But when flipping from cue to cue, the cross faders are doing the same thing. like when I set Cue 1 to Full in programming, hitting cue one and go will only make it go up to 92. Which in itself is not the worst, but the same thing happens when going down. so when hitting cue 2 (00%) it only goes down 92% and ends up leaving a light level of 2-3% which is slightly annoying for a total blackout. Anyone have any ideas on how to bypass this problem ?

Thanks!

  • First, can you use the number keys to set levels, such as Chan 1 Full or Chan 1 At 50?  Second, can you record cues rather thannusing the board as a 2 scene preset?

  • Manually at the moment I can set any channel to any number I'd like including from 0 to full. The problem comes when activating the cue's. The channel sliders (1-96) are not affected by whatever is messing with the bottom row sliders (master, submasters and cross faders)

  • Oh, I see.  Sounds like you need new faders.  Sorry I can't help more.  Call ETC tech support; they're the best.

  • The faders definitely need replacing, just wondering if there's a work around similar to turning off the master fade. We're using it in a small community theatre with a donated board.

  • It may be possible to tweak the working voltage that those analog pots work at.  Give Tech Support a call (800) 688-4116 when you're in front of the console, and they should be able to walk you through tweaking that voltage with a jeweler's screwdriver (if it's the issue I'm thinking of).
