Or how about a small piece of software for PDA's or smartphones, which connect thru wireless lan to the desk. Windows Mobile 5 application would be so nice :) and a PDA or Smartphone is not that expensive to buy.

can display stuff on it, can assign flexible buttons, no cabling,does not need a hardware to be built and so on :)

I would really love such a think. Or do we maybe once get an Network API so thinks like this could be developped by the community and given back to it

I you check out some of the other threads here you'll see that once we get H3PC and H3 software on the same version, you'll be able to network devices. So using a Tablet-PC or laptop as RFU is not that far off.:)

I know, I am using my laptop as RFU at the moment, (i have an iPC, so already network-enable with Hog3PC) but it is not very handy, and in fact an overkill of functions, and not very handy. The technique is already there and working great, having it downsized to a smaller device with only the needed functions of a RFU would be great.

It would be really cool to do focus positions from my windows smartphone. It all ready has a joystick and is much lighter than any tablet pc.

Exactly and You have it always in Your Pocket, jhust running around on stage, and seing something to be changed, jhust take it our, and change it over Wireless Lan, and put it back. Or when you are not in the FOH because of whatever, you always have quick access. Slimmer and cheaper than any other device. Tried the tablet, it is big and annoying, and you have to put it somewhere on stage if you don't need it.

PDA and tablet PC have both advantages. You can show more informations on a tablet PC screen, a PDA is more handy and not so expensive. A tablet PC based system would be good for backup, but for remote it's probably the PDA because you don't need all the system informations from the desk if you want to change IFCB values to change as preset. I would prefer a PDA based remote, cause I already have a WiFi PDA and don't wanna buy a expensive tablet PC. It's more easy for an LD or Technician to work with a PDA. What says High End thereto?

And if High End is on the way to create Hog3 PDA, why don't work on a new Handyshake too? ... ;o)
