It sounds like you missed step 2. You need to actually touch the position parameters after selecting fixtures. You can only set timing if you have hard values in the programmer.
I think what Jörgen is asking for is the "Avo-way": use a preset during a live show. just like on the avos: 1. select group or fixtures 2. type "5" on the keypad 3. select the preset -> 5sec fade to the preset
I think something like this would be very useful. I requested this for scenes and we discussed a fader for this a long time ago:
forums.highend.com/showthread.php?p=5833#post5833 and my request #4 in this post: forums.highend.com/showthread.php?p=5782#post5782
what ever happened to those feature requests? I still miss these features and would love to see them before may when the festival season starts again...
yummie nice idea, didn't even remember this on the avo. But nice idea, I have often a usage for beeing able to switch positions in not ad-hoc way, but with a fade time one can quickly enter, like the way you describe.
I like the idea :) Also nice for example for effects, so you can pre-define the speed of the effect prior applying it. Or even, to get more weird, time / rate, effect preset :)
We have a number of enhancements open right now for better "sneak" functionality, but for the case we're talking about here, the current solution is almost as fast. The only additional step is touching the pan or tilt encoder before you set the time.
But "time 5 " would be faster. I think you have to make a difference between having to do this once or twice during a show and running a whole rock show this way. What happend to the suggestions made in the threads I mentioned? i.e. a fader that is used to set the default timing and a button to set all scenes that are run directly from the scene directory to use this default timing instead of the programmed timing? Same with the programmer.
Your suggestions have been logged as enhancements in our bug database. The specific suggestion for scene timing is logged as request #9283.
During our release planning process, our team sits down and discusses what our upcoming release will focus on and what defects and enhancements will be included. This specific request hasn't been targeted to a specific release yet, but it certainly seems like a good idea and we appreciate the feedback.
I am stuck often in situations to run nearly everything in live, and it would be so usefull to haven both options, either timing using the keyboard, then apply to a palette, or to have fader to dynamically adjust parameters. Being able to change the way the faders are working, to be able to switch the fader to control the timing of a running cue (As far as I remember, Avo is doing this kind too).
If I am running quite a lot in live mode, and i need to change some stuff quickly, I choose live, suck save it starts running it, and then clear the programmer open the saved stuff in blind mode editing the parameters and then pig&blind to fade to the changes :)
Maybe someone has a better idea :) But I am getting around pretty well meanwhile doing complex stuff. Apparently it looks good to see my fingers flying around the touchscreens, the faders the keyboard :)
What could be nice, is to have a toolsbar with , rate, speed, size .... and when we maintain one of this button, or me can use the fader of the choosen master to mofie the value (motorized faders would have been very useful in this case) or a virtual onscreen fader.

You could always have this function on the Wheels...... or in the Hog3 and 3PC the Intensity wheel
