Hi, I just got my Road Hog today, and like an idiot or better yet a kid at Christmas, I decided to go ahead and commit to using it at tonight's very busy show at my club. That said, I'm coming from using a Hog 500 where strobe is part of the beam menu and is easily changed from random to sync, etc. at any speed by the corresponding wheel. On the Road Hog, the only strobe panel is one of the slotted parameters and it only gives me open or closed options... nothing else. What do I do? Everything else is going well, but this show starts here in a few minutes and I need some advice asap... got two openers to try and figure it out. THanks.
Have not used the RoadHog yet, but the strobe function is noramlly on the intensity functions for the Hog3. Hit the intensity button and it is usually on the far right. If not hit the intensity button again and see if is in the second layer.
Son of a whore!!! :D Thank you sir. I wish I had found that about 3 hours ago, and of course, it would be a hard rock show where I need strobes, but no worries. I can't believe I didn't look there, but I'm just used to the 500. Thanks again. Take care.
Coming from a Hog 500, play around on the Road Hog. With the Hog 3 software, things are laid out "logically" instead of necessarily where the manufacturer put it. Along the lines of Golden Scans (and some other people) that put intensity and control on the same channel, the Hog 3 software splits it out so you don't have to worry about going "too far" and turning off the lamp or resetting the fixture.
I like the stupid old hog II, Especially like the stupid HTP effects on a fader, crappy keystroke macro's, rubbish and bug free cloning, relatively bug free software, really dumb mark q thing, who would want fixtures that pan and tilt when you want them to and not when the console wants to,crazy and stupid views that recall instantly and all that "old" stuff that's is so boring these days. Looking at the posts up to yesterday i still see people asking for features that they had on Hog II, so i think my point is made.
I still think both consoles have a place and that they both have advantages over each other and most of the feautres missing in Hog III will become available over time,i see snippets of information about mark-q,increased stability etc but i want it to happen in a more speedy fashion thats all. and yes i know it takes time to develop, test new software but again just want it to happen sooner rather than later.
