IPCB Fader for GOBO Rotate

Console: HOG III
Fixture: MAC 700 Profile

In the last six months I've done 3 different fundraiser/festival gigs that we setup the console in a busking type mode.

In doing this I had one fader for GOBO Rotate Speed.

I recorded a SCENE with the rotate at say 70 rpm.

I then moved this scene to a fader, and set the fader for IPCB crossfade on the main.

It works fine except the fader releases when pulled down all the way.
The rotate returns to the index mode and the gobo snaps back to its default position.

I played around with some different settings to see if I could stop this but didn't find anything.

My solution was a small piece of gaff tape to prevent the slider from going to the bottom.

Thoughts? Solutions?

  • I do this all the time, and my workaround is as follows:

make your stack of rotating gobo´s, (set `cue only` to `off`) , and include the value "rotate 0%" in the first step. this keeps the gobo stack in rotation mode throughout.
then make your rotation clip, move it to a fader, set it to IFCB / go on fader up/ release on fader down, and set it at a higher priority than the gobo clip. this way when you bring the rotation fader back down, it will not revert to the default rotation index for the fixture, but to the preprogrammed 0% rotation in the gobo cuelist.
