You are correct that you can go to 12 universes, but only with the upcoming v3.0 software. With the current release of 2.6 the Full Boar supports 8 universes. However in December when we release v3.0 this will increase to 12 so you can use two wings with installed widgets as you suggest.

Mick, the reason it is limited to 4 universes is that it is alot cheaper than the other consoles. It lacks networking and expansion because it is aimed at a market that do not neccassarily NEED it. Let me put this into perspective. This year the Brit awards was run off a Full Boar, not a Hog 3 like some would expect. Taking this into consideration, you can run an aweful lot off 4 universes. Did you watch any dream will do on the TV a while ago? All of that ran off a vector green, which only has 4 universes. Granted they used Art-Net with it because it can, but you can run alot on 4 universes.

The Road Hog is sold at a low price because it is non expandable in terms of DMX output and it does not have networking abilities enabled. The console is targeted at markets that need no more than 4 universes of DMX. If more are desired, we sell the Road Hog Full Boar and Wholehog 3 consoles.
So to answer your question, the Road Hog is not built to be expanded in terms of DMX output.
