I am running Hog 3 PC 3.1.9 and my laptop (win7 64-bit) will not connect to my single universe widget. When I plug the DMX widge into my USB port the computer says drivers not successfully installed. I have a show tomorrow, anyone help?
I recommend trying to reinstall. Be careful to read all the install prompts and to make sure you allow windows security to install drivers. More than likely you missed the prompt that I am showing here. Make sure you select "install this driver anyway"
Open up the windows device manager and you should see the dmx widget listed as an unknown or unloaded device in the list of hardware when you plug it in. Right click and update the driver and see if that helps.
Okay, so then it sounds like the driver is loaded and I'm guessing the link led status light on the dmx widget is on. When you open Hog3PC, hit setup, network, and in the network window click on the DP8000 listed in the network window and hit the settings button. Then navigate to the widgets tab and see if your widget is available in the drop down menu for universe 1.
In order for the widget to show up, there needs to be something patched into your show. once this is done, It should come up working, if not, look for the widget tab and find your widget.
I had the same problem last week, I downloaded the new version installed it no problem. I had a show test the next day, plug in the usb widget and no link light. Luckily I had the old version on the computer, installed it and then no problems.
Alright I have a new problem here.....just bought a MacBook Pro and am running VMware Fusion. My programmer wing seems to be ok, but the widget is the issue. everytime i go into the network settings its showing me a DP 8000, then I click settings in that window and I do not see the widget. I have a fixture patched in as well, so i should be good to go? Help please I have a gig with this thing tomorrow!!!!
Running any sort of virtual windows in a show environment is a accident waiting to happen. I would bootcamp it, then you should be good to go. I have heard a few people speak of issues with drivers with a few different devices in fusion.
Bootcamp will definitely solve the issue. Unless you have a hardware issue with your widget.
