A few different request =)

A few ideas to features =>

1. To be able to set whether "clear" should reset buddy and repeats to "no repeat"/"no buddies". It drives me nuts sometimes that i have buddy/repeat on even though i cleared

2. If i select fixtures 1 -> 8, and choose "odd", then i only have the odd fixtures selected. If i then select "even" i wan't to work with the other half of the fixtures, but instead i get the even fixtures of the "odd-selection". I would like this to be changed, or at least two different "modes" to select.

3. To be able to put "features" on a new kind of palette. I use buddying and repeat a lot and would like this to be selected quickly, therefore i would like to be able to put this features that i use a lot on it's own palette.

4. When i record a view, i wan't to select if it should be "additive" or close everything below that view. I want to choose if the view is for the left, right or both screens.

5. I want to be able to resize windows more dynamicly, kind of the way grandma does it. It would also be great if i could hide the "directorys" toolbar in the palettes, to get more slimmed windows.

6. I want to be able to have gobopreviews on the palettes, kind of like color coding but with a gobo picture.
  • Item 1:

    You can set this in the preferences.

    From section 15.4.6 of the manual:

    By default grouping and buddying options are retained even after pressing the Clear key. To reset grouping and buddying options when Clear is pressed, enable the option in Setup → Preferences → Programming
  • Item 2:

    The best way to think of these selection tools is as 'Every Other'.

    To do what you want to do, select a range of fixtures
    -press Select->Odd
    -adjust fixtures
    -press Select->All
    -press Select->Even
    -adjust fixtures
  • Item 4:

    Once a view has been recorded you can adjust whether or not that view is Additive.

    This is laid out in section 13.2.5 of the manual.

    It's important to remember that you want to close every other window when creating an additive view.

    For instance, I usually have a custom view that opens my Programmer window set up in the way I like it. To record this view I close every other window, open a Programmer window and configure it to my liking, record a new view, then switch that view to be additive.

    After that I can select that view at any time and it opens my custom Programmer window on top of whatever other windows I have open.

    5. I want to be able to resize windows more dynamicly, kind of the way grandma does it. It would also be great if i could hide the "directorys" toolbar in the palettes, to get more slimmed windows.

    If you turn off the "lock" icon on the top-right toolbar, you can resize your windows to any size you'd like.
  • gildebrand, it's time for you to :rtfm:!!!!
    for number 3 you can now use Macros to set you r buddy and repeat quickly!
    You already have answers for number 1 thru 5!
    The only thing you can't do it's number 6!
    hope this helps
  • For item 2, as has already been stated, if you have odd fixtures selected, and then you do a select "even," naturally, you are selecting the even fixtures within that selection.

    If you want to select "even" of the entire range, you have to select all first.

    If you're using next/back (and even if you aren't) while you're in your "odd" selection, just hit both next and back at the same time to select all. Then you can quickly select even. Instead of 4 key presses, it's 3.

  • Item 2.
    If all you had in the programmer was 1 - 8 and the Odd selected then,
    Use -> Select Invert.
  • [QUOTE=Gildebrand;55503]3. To be able to put "features" on a new kind of palette. I use buddying and repeat a lot and would like this to be selected quickly, therefore i would like to be able to put this features that i use a lot on it's own palette.

    I agree with you on this one.

    Grouping/Repeat/Buddy Palettes would be great to have (similar to MATrix Presets on the MA :rolleyes:), but with Direct Entry available now in combination with the existing "slots" I wouldn't make it it a high priority.

    For the rest of these requests I think others have addressed them appropriately.....a lot of good info in the manual...;)
