Midi & Road Hog

Dear Hog World...

Currently setup in a theatre club we want to get the show control machine to activate the show cue sequence.

Show control is Ableton, for testing purposes I have downloaded a keyboard program that can output Midi at the stroke of a virtual keyboard.

The device to used on the road hog is the M-Audio Midisport Uno.

We have searched through the forums for instructions and tried many setup sequences.

We can see the Midi lights flashing on the M-Audio device, however we cannot see if the console is receiving or being activated.

Setup notes:
- Midi Note Mapping is Active
- Midi Note mapping is setup similar to these settings (housetohalf.net/Housetohalf/iPhone.html)
- Timecode has been selected to receive midi
- Cue list Options - I/O settings shows only timecode source as 1:Console

Our questions:
- Is there something specific that tells the console to start timecode or trigger a cue list
- is there an icon somewhere that shows that the console is receiving the midi signal

If you can help, this would be ideal.

Regards,

Ryan

  • Ah sorry my fault...

It is holding OPEN not Setup...
There you will see the Midi Viewer Button.
Pushing this will open a Window where you can see the incoming Mididata

For example in your setting you need to send to trigger a go on master 1 console playbackbar:

    Midi Channel 3
Note 1 any velocity higher than 0

a Flash for the same fader would be:

    Midi Channel 3
Note 3 any velocity higher than 0

Could you please let us see the Midi Viewer, this will help to analyze your incoming midi-data. Seems that your keyboard is not mapped propper.
You can also use midi-timecode... It depends on your show and what you would like to do...
