It is not shown as a fault.
24 X-Spots & 6 X-Treme does it.
Homing is correctly.
I used all 3 Gobo Wheels.

i also had extra X-Spot on my show. They do the same.

Can you try it on your X-Spots? Would be very interesting what you will find out.

Do all of the x.Spots come up indexed at the same incorrect position?

Do they come up indexed at the same incorrect position every time you play the cue, even after homing the lights?

What happens if you play the cue and then update the indexing so that the gobos are correct? Will it play back correctly then?

i play the cue (Cue #1). The index will move, but not in the exact pos.
than i update the index. Record a new cue (Cue #2).

Clear and Release szenes.

recal cue #1 (wrong index)
recal cue #2 NOW IT IS IN THE EXACT POSITION

all the time??????????

I don´t understand why it is that difficult to get just one Indexed Gobo?

Do you know an easier solution?

Daniel,

You might check that the gobo isn't loose in the holder. I've seen custom gobos loose in the holder before so they float around on their own causing it to be off.

may be i didn´t explained it well.

there is definitely no mechanical fault.
No play in the Wheels, no movement of the gobos in the wheels.

It must be something in the programming of the Fixture.

Teerickson is asking the right question.
I think is on the right way to help me.

Does anybody of you have time to try this with his one X-Spot?
Than you will know what i mean.

Take the broadband (for example better to see) and record a cue at a sharp corner (so that you have to set the index)
Clear the scene or cue.
Idle the fixture

And now recal the cue!
Now you will see that the Broadband is slightly (1-3 Deg) of the sharp corner. (I just talk about the Index Pos. all other functions are correctly)

Please take a time and try it!

We have tested this here with different X.Spots. This related to the hysteresis of the mechanics. You need to come always from the same side as you programmed it. We are able to achive exact positioning every time. In fact this is true for all positioning where exact reproducability is essenital and is not related to the console.

I can confirm Robert's statement based on programming experience with StudioSpot, Technobeam and XSpot Series like we have.
Hysteresis of the steppermotor is one topic to regard.

Please see the attached PDF-File which describes technically how steppermotors work and what there accurancy is/should be.

isn't your real question as following:

1.) Why do I have to program this application with HES-fixture by using two cues in order to get accurat litho positioning?
2.) Why doesn't one see this behaviour with Varilite or fixtures from other manufactures?
Is this true?

These are the right questions.

I just want to know if somebody else (HES User) noticed that behaviour
But i think they don´t
So there is still the 2nd question: may be it is the same with other fixtures but nobody takes care on this???

For me is no porblem anymore.
Now i know how to handle that topic.
