The new SHOWGUN is not only a very real and exciting fixture, but it does offer glass lithos, a very fast color mixing system, and variable zoom. It also happens to have a unique soft edge feature that allows it to be used as a very effective wash light.
It uses a new 2000 Watt lamp that we've developed with Philips and our electronic strobe can boost it up to 3000 Watts.
It's not just a 2000W lamp. It's a 2000W lamp and an optics system that was designed around the primary purpose of getting as much light as possible out of the front of the fixture. I'm obviously a bit biased, but it's an amazing sight. SHOWGUN absolutely blows away any of the 2K fixtures that I've worked with. Combine that with mechanical and electrical strobe, a fast CMY colour mixing system, glass lithos, variable soft-edge, iris, zoom, focus, fast pan & tilt speed (less than 1 sec. for 180 deg.), and the LED tracking system, I'm really excited to get some of these out on shows. I absolutely encourage you to give this fixture a serious look whenever you get the chance.
What of FX? Did they finally get a prisim or something on the end of the light path where it needs to be? To me it's always been the HES weak point.:aargh4: It's frustrating to say the least. I hate having to mix brands to to get a look a client has seen but my favorite fixtures wont do it.:o
Frank, The SHOWGUN does not have an effects wheel or prisms. Internally, the fixture has CMY color mixing, a rotating/indexing gobo wheel (four slots plus open), an acromat lense for focus, and then a polymer microfresnel lens. As Tom mentioned earlier the color mixing is extremely fast, it has variable zoom, an iris, a 10inch exit aperture, the ability to achieve a true hard edge or soft edge, is capable of Electronic Strobing, and has the LED Tracking System. If you have any more questions let us know!
Hi, Can anyone say if the showgun is artnet or RDM enabled or perhaps if it has networking capabilities not seen before in a product like this? Looks great and i look forward to seeing it soon,
The LEDs won't compete with the hundreds of thousands of lumens of the main beam, but they provide a nice wash when used on their own and still give a nice halo effect at the fixture when used in conjuntion with the main beam.
Tim, Another thing that I'd like to add is that not only can you use the LEDs as a wash but the fixture has Soft Edge Flags that allow you to turn the main beam into a wash as well. This is achieved by the combination of flags and the polymer microfresnel lens that we are using. The LEDs can also strobe and perform color chases. When mixing colors for the LEDs you can also retain that color while dimming, as well as not seeing that steppy dimming one often sees in LED products.

But doesn't that then introduce flickering at low intensities to compensate for the smoother curve? This is especially apparent on video with LED products that have a better low end curve.
