Andris, One of the great things about SHOWGUN is that we have overcome this issue. During dimming AND at low levels the dimming curve is extremely smooth and does not have noticable steps like other LED products. If you get a chance I recommend coming to check out the fixture or check our posts on the LN or our News Page to see if a demo/open house will be heading your way anytime soon.
I read one post where the showgun makes the vl 3500 look like a toy flash light. How does it stack up to the mac 2k? Showgun will cost $$$$$$ as much as a dl 2?
Hi Mike, The MAC 2k roughly has an average of 32,000 Lumens. The SHOWGUN has over 100,000 Lumens. The aperture of SHOWGUN is 10" so not only are you getting a brighter beam but you are getting a bigger beam. Also, the LED Tracking Ring has an output of 5000 Lumens. I will let you draw your own conclusions as far as how it makes the MAC 2k look! You will see SHOWGUN on some shows very soon since we just started shipping SHOWGUN yesterday! The cost of SHOWGUN is a little more than half of what DL2 is.
It was quite exciting seeing the first batch roll onto the trucks! Especially after everyones hard work and long hours on the production floor. The first two shipments went to CW Productions and Mainlight. I know that Mainlight will have theirs at Live Earth on July 7th ( www.liveearth.org/ ). The US show is at Giants Stadium in NJ and will be programmed by Patrick Dierson. It should be a great show and definitely for a great cause.
Gary, If you can manage to find a clip of the New York Live Earth you will be able to see SHOWGUN in the same rig as MAC2000 Washes. The SHOWGUNs are hung on four trusses over the stage (18 total) and the MAC2000 are on the wings used for audience washes. Other than that you'll just have to get a few!
Thanks to Brad and Richard for the personal Showgun preview right before shipping.
I was really impressed, and somewhat surprised, by what I saw at HES.
Everyone has talked about the output, the LEDs, and most everything else that makes this fixture one-of-a-kind, but I haven't seen a ton of discussion regarding the projection of patterns and breakups.
When I saw the first Showgun video, I was excited to see the addition of a rotating gobo wheel to the fixture. Having worked with the breakup patterns available in the latest Syncrolites, I knw that this might be a useful feature at times.
What I saw in Austin blew me away. The aerial breakups coming out of this fixture are crisp and punchy. And as usual, High End has thrown in some of the best stock patterns in the industry.
Anyone who is still trying to compare this fixture to anything else should probably stop right now. It's not a VL. It's not a Mac. It's not a Syncrolite. Showgun is a very unique fixture, and I think that HES has hit a home-run.
Good evening. I am looking at placing showguns into an existing design. I have some power questions. Can you plug these units with a standard L6-20 connector, and 12ga multi? I am thinking...not.
How are most of you powering up the units? Special 208 distro and cabling?
Showgun only pulls 14 Amps at 208 according to the spec sheet, so you should be just fine with 12 gauge cable, and the L6-20 is a 20 amp connector, so that will be fine as well. Just don't two-fer them and you will be fine. Joshua Wood
