Just a couple of things to check,
I assume you are using phillips lamps,
I would check the fans, and make sure they are running at full speed, and are not too blocked with gunk.
I suggest you use software 4.1.5 as it has the fans enabled at full speed at all times.
Otherwise you may want to try a new lamp power supply, as perhaps it is set too high? I don't know if this is possible, but I suppose you never know......

correct, philips lamp. Fixture is clean, and fans seem to be running normal. has 4.1.5 sw. I think i have another lps in the house; it's finding another bulb!

I am going to assume the obvious....that the lamps are all being cleaned with alcohol wipes before being used?? Dirt, grease, fingerprints, etc can all cause exactly what you are describing......but I figure you already know that;)

The other thing I would look at first is the lamp socket and the wires that lead to it.

Check the socket for any cracks or missing pieces, and the pin recepticles for burn marks or corrosion.

Check that the wires have not been damages anywhere along the way....the wires onthose sockets are fairly tight, so if someone has put too much force on them there might be damage there.
