Hello Forum,
We have a medium venue (chapel) where we made an investment in 16 ColorSource V Fresnel fixtures. These are mounted approx 40-50' high on the timbers of the chapel to be as unobtrusive as possible. Have have no catwalk to access the fixtures and used a lift truck to install them.
We use sACN to control the fixtures and they work beautifully.
My feature request is for engineers to add a way to update the firmware on these fixtures via sACN/RDM nodes. Forcing a technician (that would be me) into a high-elevation baskets to physically plug in DMX jumpers introduces unnecessary workplace safety hazards for a task that is purely code-based.
It would be great if you could implement a slow, throttled "broadcast update" over network nodes using sACN or Art-Net. Even if a wireless network update takes 45 minutes per fixture due to low bandwidth, it is still preferred over manual physical access because it can run overnight and unattended.
I realize we might have to use a single, pre-updated fixture or the ETC UpdaterAtor program to do a one-time firmware update to enable this, but it would be worth it over the long-term for flexibility and serviceability.
Thank you,
