Pixelmad, is HSI output possible

Hi Rod,
PixelMad directly controls fitures using DMX sent over Artnet protocol. What exactly are you trying to use with PixelMAD. What is the make and model of the fixture you are trying to use?

What I was thinking of doing is to run chroma-q color blocks DB4s. These can run in RGB mode and also HSI. HSI mode also includes the extra control channels to allow you to use the in-built effects. What I was wanting to do is control the DB4 by both pixelMAD and normal DMX control by merging 2 different DMX sources together. However for this to work it would require pixelMAD to output HSI dmx and not RGB dmx.

PixelMAD would not support HSI dmx. Maybe the manufacturer knows if there is a way to have the fx channels visible in rgb mode.

hsi means hue/saturation/intensity.
rgb means red/green/blue.

the colour blocks have two ways of specifying how a colour of an individual colour is represented.

this in itself is nothing to do with dmx - its just a different way of representing colour in 3 dmx channels.

i do not know why the fixture works differently with fx channels in either mode.

at the moment i havent got a way to convert rgb to hsi colour values.

I have looked at the in-built fx of the DB4 and I can probably live without them.

Maybe chroma-q should make the fx channels work in either mode.
