Catalyst with live inputs

current drivers for decklink dont support more than 1 card.

it has been possible to use different cards in the past to get more than 1 input.
but some of the cards we used to use have not made it to PCIe.

i have also used a new way of getting up to 10 video inputs into the software using multiplexers.
i also have a 4 input card being tested at the moment.

However, our requirements are urgent, and unless I can get a multi-input (3) system working this week I'm going to be forced onto another system that I'm not so thrilled with.

Can you give me any immediate fixes or suggestions for multiple inputs?

i will have another play with my 4 input card-

what size on screen do the inputs have to appear?

1/4 screen - four at the same time? on the same screen?

Are you thinking an HD card that is split into a 2 x 2 matrix so that each quadrant is 960 x 540 or something similar?

What about using two Capture Cards and a third on Fire Wire?

I'll be using a Quad 3Ghz.

I actually only need three inputs, but I would like to be able to display all three inputs simultaneously with some basic effects on them (brightness/contrast, colour correction etc.).

The three live feeds will not need to be composited on top of each other.

no just standard defintion.

i have 2 shows recently- radiohead used 10 video inputs using a zandar multiplexer-
and Pink is using 3 inputs with a leitch multiplexer.
Both shows didnt need full resolution inputs.
On the Placebo show this week we only used 1/4 resolution playback to 10 Barco R18's because this worked fine. 384x288.
Lighting designer was very happy with the results.
Enabled him to simplify his video playback.

it isnt necessary always to work at the highest possible resolution - as anyone working with led video walls knows - the real resolution of these things is often only 200x100 or even less.
No point in running 720x576 into a video wall that runs at 200x100 pixels.

i have written a video input cropper - that is in the current beta -- which enables a single video input to be chopped up into up to 10 separate inputs.
And it does all the recentring and scaling - so that you can treat it as a new input.

there arent two capture cards that work well enough together yet on intel ( or even on pcie )
and firewire has poor latency on all devices i tested.

Hmmm - that's disappointing.

I need a solution pretty soon, and though I am inclined very much towards Catalyst for many reasons, the Hippotizer comes loaded up with inputs. Is there no decent, short-term solution?

its only been weeks since these computers appeared - thats not long enough to work through the problems - noone in apple world ever gets advanced hardware - or advanced notice of changes.
the hardware just appears.
developers have to scramble to figure out what works and what is broken.
