PC Client Connection

Is the software version on the PC the same as on the Ion?  It won't work unless they both match.

They are indeed.  We updated both to match a month or so ago.

Do you have a usb dongle? 

If using Win7 do you a valid driver for dongle? 

Can you select Client from shell menu? 

If so, what happens when you start Client?

What specifically are you seeing on the Client PC? Knowing the screens and messages you see would be useful in figuring out what's going on.

We do have a dongle.  It is inserted.  As far as I know though the dongle is not nessecary any more to just connect nd see what is going on.( I though remember reading that change recently, but I could be wrong.)

When we start the etc client, all we get is searching for master...  and it never returns anything... we let it sit for an hour and nothing.  

Also this in on an older WinXP machine.

What do you see when you click on Troubleshoot?

The Client machine tries to connect to the last Master it connected to.
It will continue Searching until it either finds that specific Master or you click "Troubleshoot".

Therefore it will stay on that screen forever if the Client has not connected to a Master before, or the most recent Master is not there.

So click "Troubleshoot" and you'll get a list of detected Masters to connect to.

Hey guys thanks for the help.

Let me start by saying, We got it back to working order.  However it was not as simple as clicking trouble shoot.  From another post of mine, we have been having a lovely pile of network issues that we have been solving one at a time.   We needed to reboot the switches as they had bad ARP Cache tables in them and the network kept dropping the console offline even though it was able to talk to the dimmers through ACN. 

Still having Unison issues, but those we are addressing with the installer.  Again thanks for the help.
