NET3 DMX output combined?

Console's 1-300 of universe1 and 200-312 of universe10, 1-100 of universe14, combined into a DMX512. Whether it can be implemented in the  DMX output of Net3 gateway,?, not in the patch in the console

  • I think this could be done with a 4-port Net3 gateway and advanced Input Patch for three ports if you can get DMX out of the console with DMX cables:

    • connect the console output of Universe 1 to Port 1 - DMX Input 1-300 set to output 1/1-1/300
    • connect the console output of Universe 10 to Port 2 - DMX Input  200-312 set to output 1/301-1/412
    • connect the console output Universe 14 to Port 3 - DMX Input 1-100 set to output 1/413-1/512

You could use port 4 of the gateway as an output for Universe 1 to get the combined output.

Configure the Net3 Gateway with Concert software - the manual is at http://www.etcconnect.com/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=10737495774 and Advanced Input Patch is on page 87.

  • This could almost work, except that sACN universe 1 output by the gateway would have an HTP mixture of data from before and after the gateway's merging impact.

Two options to tweak this and clean it up:

    1) Remove the gateway from the network.  That would isolate so the only sACN 1 the gw sees is what it is generating.  (Note: You'll want the most recent gateway code for this.  A couple of versions back there was an issue with unnetworked gateway function.)

    2) Set all the AIP inputs and the output universe to a (matching) new universe--one that isn't used anywhere on the network.

  • good points - i didn't think about the universe 1 merging "loop" if the gateway is on the network.
