Swapping a GrandMA into our system

Hey there!

Working in a venue that is primarily configured with an Ion Xe where everything is over SACN. We’ve had a touring show come in and set up their MA for PC with console wing. And we’ve run into a priority issue(?)

The two consoles stomped on each other when they were both on, but we’ve sat down to programme and when we turned the Ion off to clear the overlap, the MA had control for a minute then lost all control.

We have a network cable running to the ma in the house, and I’m suspicious that when the ion turns off the whole network goes away. The ma *should* be in the correct IP range.

Any thoughts?

  • At the theater where I work, we have a Puck that controls the relay startup fixtures, color, and focus using sACN with a lower priority. During the show, the lighting show console controls the dimmer channels through a sACN input, and everything works as expected. If the show needs to take control of everything, it simply uses a higher sACN priority.

However, when an MA console is connected, there seems to be a network war and nothing works correctly. We usually have to shut down the Eos so the MA can take control of everything.

I'm interested in understanding what might be causing this.
