Relay on cem+ rack

I have 4 ESR36 Racks with CEM+ Modules running software version 3.1.2.9.0.38

I have a number of ER15 modules

Some are older eg P/N 7070A2105 S/N245292

Some are newer eg  P/N 7070A3305.  S/N 318184

All of the relay modules work in rack 1, 3 and 4

However only the newer modules work in rack 2

I'm at a loss as to why this is

I have spoken to a few folks at etc nobody seems to be able to solve this

All racks installed at the same time (2011 I believe)

All racks are on the same group and same network

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks

Phil

  • So, there is a solid internal ETC discussion about this.

    Question:

    • What does the sticker/label on the bottom of the module say for both modules?
      • Just in case both are "ER15" on the front but actually a little different
      • (recently ran into this with ELV10 modules where the front label was ELV10 but the bottom label was ELV10-S and the module was wired as a -S)
    • What does the PCB sticker/label say for both modules? (including Rev & S/N) [old vs new]
  • These are definitely different generations of modules

    The internals look very different

Funny that the racks and CEM+ are the same age as those that don't work

The newer have much smaller relays and are notably lighter in weight

I'm not in the venue this evening but will get the rest of the info of the modules tomorrow as soon as I get in

The P/N and S/N of an example of the older and newer units are in my first post if that helps

It might be of interest that the racks that doesn't work with the older units did not have any relays installed on the first commissioning, although after advice from they Gus in Leeds I set up the channel as a ER15 and switched from concert

Thanks so much for looking into this
