Windows 10 compatibility

Have any of ETC's programs been tested with Windows 10, or is the official word to hold off on updating for now?

  • Brad,

We are in process of testing our programs for Windows 10 compatibility. At the moment we are eagerly awaiting the Windows 10 release version so that we can complete the full testing using the software that end users will experience. It would be a good idea to wait a little while to allow us to complete this task.

Thanks for asking! I'm sure this is a question that is about to pop up a lot in the near future.
  • Hey Greg! Do you know specifically if NCE is compatible with windows 10? I just got a new laptop that came pre-loaded and I still have a net2 node we'll keep using until it breaks. I've gotten an installation error but I can't tell if it's a real "won't install" or some other windows problem.

If not, will Concert be able to change settings in a Net2 node? Worst case, our consoles still run NCE so not a huge deal.
  • Let me look into that for you, or get some one to reply with more knowledge.
  • We've looked at NCE 4.3.1 in Windows 10 32bit and 64bit, and all seems well. We have not evaluated any earlier version of NCE. We are continuing to test other software packages - not quite all the way through compatibility testing.

Our notes about Windows 10 and NCE were:

You need to run NICPicker as an administrator before using NCE to ensure it knows which network card to talk through.

Make sure you set a valid gateway on your network adapter (like 10.101.1.1) instead of matching the IP address or leaving it blank. A good sample IP configuration would be IP: 10.101.1.101, Subnet: 255.255.0.0, and Gateway: 10.101.1.1. Re-run NICPicker any time you make an IP address change just to be sure. The bootp server will not start without it properly set.

  • Hey Hans, I'm actually getting an error on the install:

I was getting a similar error when trying to install GCE on this new windows 10 machine I got to replace an old XP computer I was using for offline and networking. I could just have something set wrong in windown and can't tell but if you have any siuggestions I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks!
