File under: That's a great Idea! - ETC NET Boxes

It would be a very cool thing if the ETC NET Boxes (with the small Net switches and A/C) had a keystone knock-out on the cover so you only had to knock it out to mount a net jack.  It sure beats opening up the box to gain net access, or having to mount a single jack (and box & pipe, etc)

  • You could just use one of the RJ45 Receptacle to receptacle inserts that are sometimes put into the patch bays for larger systems to allow for a internal device (i.e. an ERn) have a patch cable to the outside switch.  Then there's just a patch cable inside the net box and a receptacle outside.

And while the Keystone to RJ45 tail probably isn't allowed via the CAT5/CAT6 spec, I bet it would work.
