That is a fantastic idea. They only downside is that I usually plug my laptop into the unused edison outlet inside. But its a great idea.

I was just realizing that yesterday when I was plugging in my laptop as well.  But for 99% of the time.

So the question is, do you make the NET box kit include a Keystone RJ45 to RJ45 male tail to just plug in the switch?  Does that violate CAT5 or CAT6 as specified?

You could just use one of the RJ45 Receptacle to receptacle inserts that are sometimes put into the patch bays for larger systems to allow for a internal device (i.e. an ERn) have a patch cable to the outside switch.  Then there's just a patch cable inside the net box and a receptacle outside.

And while the Keystone to RJ45 tail probably isn't allowed via the CAT5/CAT6 spec, I bet it would work.
